چکیده
A structure, during its life, may be subjected to multiple hazards. These hazards are sometimes combined over a short period of time, or in some cases occur many years apart, with the first hazard influencing structural response under second hazard. reinforced concrete (RC) structure previously damaged by fire and then exposed seismic loading is one such example. To assess structures, effects on cyclic performance RC elements needs better understood. Moreover, it also important develop validate strengthening methods that can reinstate improve fire-damaged elements. This paper presents results novel experimental campaign where six full-scale columns detailing representing existing Mediterranean buildings designed old codes loading. Four were after exposure 30 90 min ISO 834 standard curve furnace tested uniaxial lateral up failure. Two these repaired strengthened post-fire Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) wrapping. The method aimed increase strength through confinement, displacement ductility energy dissipation capacity additional control columns, as-built another strengthened, cyclically for comparison columns. It was found resulted few cracks, whilst cover spalling general cracking observed exposure. significant decrease dissipated following exposure, even fire. had repair CFRP strengthening, showed than column without reach similar similarly previous damage.

Cyclic and Monotonic Behavior of Strengthened and Unstrengthened Square Reinforced Concrete Columns
The use of composite materials is an effective technique to enhance the capacity of reinforced concrete columns subjected to the seismic loading due to their high tensile strength. In this paper, numerical models are developed in order to predict the experimental behavior of square reinforced concrete columns strengthened by glass fiber reinforced polymer and steel bars and unstrengthened colum...
متن کاملResidual strength of blast damaged reinforced concrete columns
Columns are the key load-bearing elements in frame structures and exterior columns are probably the most vulnerable structural components to terrorist attacks. Column failure is normally the primary cause of progressive failure in frame structures. A high-fidelity physicsbased computer program, LS-DYNA was utilized in this study to provide numerical simulations of the dynamic responses and resi...
متن کاملBehaviour of FRP strengthened concrete columns under eccentric compression loading
This paper presents results of testing eccentrically loaded columns externally wrapped with two types of materials. Six cylindrical (205 mm diameter and 925 mm height) plain columns were cast and tested. Half of the columns were wrapped with GFRP and the other half with CFRP. All columns were tested by applying an axial load at 50 mm eccentricity. In each group (GFRP or CFRP wrapped) of columns...
متن کاملA Theoretical Study of the Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Columns Strengthened by Steel Plates and Transverse Reinforcements
Jacketing of reinforced concrete columns is a common and useful strengthening method. This method substantially improves mechanical properties of the column, such as flexural strength as well as shear and ductility. In this paper, the behavior of confined reinforced concrete columns are investigated. The results indicate that the method is more effective for slender columns in the region of the...
متن کاملMapping the Structural Frame of a Damaged Reinforced Concrete Building using As-Damaged Scans and As-Built BIM
After an earthquake, Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) can capture point clouds of the damaged state of building facades rapidly, remotely and accurately. A long-term research effort aims to develop applications that can reconstruct ‘as-damaged’ BIM models of reinforced concrete (RC) framed buildings based on ‘as-built’ BIMs and scans of ‘asdamaged’ states. This paper focuses on a crucial step: ...
